Ginger SNAP!!

Well, Ginger is just over 3 months now. We took her to the vet on the 17th for her 3rd shot, and she weighed in at 8.8 pounds. She is definitely growing and getting big. She is all legs! Pretty soon she will be able to jump on the couch, yet another challenge to tackle!! She has gone down to two meals a day, and is doing well with her training. Less then a month before she can explore the outdoors on her leash and use the grass to go "potty." She has been teething for a while now, and as you can see in the picture below sometimes she uses us as her chew toy... We've been soaking wash clothes and wringing them, then putting them in the freezer (thanks to the recommendation of a friend, thanks daya!!) and she loves that. She is full of energy and personality!! Stay tuned for more updates, pictures, and videos!!

Ginger is getting big!

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since we brought Ginger home. A lot has happened in those 3 weeks. Ginger's first visit to the vet was good. We found out she weighed 5.6 pounds, and that she had the beginnings of an ear infection. So that started a 14 day treatment of ear drops. That was fun!!! Once the ear drops were done it was time for her second shot to protect her against parvo. She did really well getting her shot and we found out she gained almost a pound. Ginger had also developed a case of diarrhea/loose stool. It lasted for longer then we were comfortable with so we went back to the vet. She tested negative for parvo and worms, and we were given an antibiotic. That same day she seemed to be getting better. However, we have to continue the antibiotic until it runs out.

Ginger is doing really well otherwise. She eats well and has lots of energy. She only gets up once during the night, and sometimes goes 5 hours bfore waking up. She knows when we go in the bedroom with lights off that its bedtime and she no longer whimpers. She knows that load up means to get in her crate. She is doing very well with sit and stay command. She has finally gotten completely used to her collar and is starting to get used to her leash. She is a great puppy. Right now we are trying to teach her not to bite, she is teething so I know this will be a hard task.

Having a puppy is definitely work and can be tiring but it is very exciting and rewarding. New pics and videos will hopefully be up soon!
