Whatta day!

Around 9 0'clock, we headed south towards El Cajon to see Ginger! We got there around 11:30 and spent a good hour bonding with her. From chewing on shoelaces to falling asleep in our laps, she was well worth the ride. We are hoping that spending the next few weekends with her will strengthen our initial bond with Ginger before we take her home March 19th. We had so much fun playing with her , we ended up taking around 60 pictures. Here are our favorite pictures from today's visit.

We also received our second Beagle book "Training Your Beagle". It seems very informative and we can't wait to get started reading it!

The Countdown Continues....

23 days until we can take our little beagle bundle home with us. 3 days until we go to visit her. This must be what it feels like for expectant parents. You find it hard to stay focused, you spend most of your time preparing your home for when that special bundle will be home. You buy books and read up on everything you need to know, you toss and turn... You already love something so much before you really get to know them. It's exciting and a little scary.

That is what the past 5 days have been like for Nick and I. We are so excited to visit Ginger and bond with her. And we cannot stop talking about what it will be like when we finally get to bring her home. Even though we've only spent an hour with her, we love her so much already.

In preparation for our beagle bundle of joy we went to Petco to return some items we heard were not good for puppies and buy some products that were. We also got her ID tag. It's so cute on her collar!!!

This afternoon I went to a Veterinarian, which just happens to be right across the street from my school, to set up a consultation with a vet who got rave reviews on Yelp! We'll be meeting with Dr. Liz next Wednesday to ask her all the questions we have for caring for Ginger.

Everything is just about ready and just waiting to be used by our cute, little, adorable puppy, Ginger!

Peagle Buppy!

This morning we started talking about how crazy and far away March 6th, the day we go see Ginger, is. After a couple minutes of debate, I think we have come to the conclusion that we will probably be going to visit Ginger EVERY weekend till we can take her home!

A 2 hour and 15 minute drive for the next four weekends can get a little rough, but seeing her and getting to know her more will definitely make those trips worth it. We intend to spend a decent amount of time with her; playing, taking pictures, and getting her used to us. We feel it's the right thing to do. Time well spent, says I!

I've read most of the "Beagles for Dummies" book and started reskimming over the whole thing again. I'll probably give it a real thorough read sometime either this week or next week. I've had a beagle named Ziggy growing up, but he was an outdoor dog and I'm SUUUUUUURE things are a bit different having an inside beagle vs. an outside beagle. Kandice needs to take a crack at that book soon so we can trade information.

......Thinking about maybe getting another book......

3 days down, 26 more to go!

We are both very anxious to get our new puppy and the days seem to drag. It's a little hard to focus but it'll all be worth it.

We will be making the 2 hour and 15 minute trip to El Cajon to visit her on the 6th of March. We look forward to bond with her a little more, taking lots of pictures, and to generally see how she is doing.

On another note, we heard Greenies are bad so I don't think we'll be giving them to Ginger anytime soon.

We're currently looking for a vet, so that's another adventure we will be emBARKing on soon. Haha, emBARKing! GET IT!?!?! Hahahahah heehe ehhhhh.....yes.

Picking our puppy!

On Saturday, February 20th, we took a 2 hour car ride to El Cajon, CA to take a look at some puppies that were available at a beagle ranch.

There were three separate litters to choose from ranging from 4 to 7 weeks old. All of them were adorable and we spent a good hour playing with the pups, trying to get a sense of their personalities.

Finally, we found one and she's a cutie!

She is a 4 week old, tri color, female Beagle puppy. Super adorable, loving, and exactly what we were looking for. She will be ready to leave her mother by the 20th of March, so now we play the waiting game. The horrible, long, long, did I mention long? Waiting game.

We slapped down our deposit to hold the puppy and took our leave. On the way back home from the breeder, we stopped at Petco to pick up some puppy supplies. We had a specialist giving us information on what we needed for our new puppy. An hour later, we were back on the road to LA, already missing our soon-to-be beagle puppy, who we are naming Ginger.

Today marks Day 1 of the 27 day wait for Ginger.

We went out and bought "Beagles for Dummies" just to get a good idea about how to train and care for a Beagle. The grueling wait continues...
